Cornelius Turveydied from pneumonia on 28th September, 1914, while serving with the 7th London battalion in England. At this time the 21st London battalion was still in England and did not go to France until March 1915 when they became part of 140 Brigade, 47th Division. He had served in the Boer War with the 2nd Scottish Rifles.
